Retail Center Planning Comission Hearing
Posted on Mar 22nd, 2016
This may be your last chance to speak and be heard!
Thursday, April 7 at 1 pm
Old Jail Building - 444 South 5th Street

Arrive 15 minutes early. You will fill out a card to speak. They'll call your name and it's your turn. They typically go in order of: Owner/Developer/Architect, then Supporters, then Neutral Parties, then those Opposed.
To Speak:
- Prepare your material ahead of time. Gather facts, statistics, and photos.
- Keep emotions out of it. They will listen but not really take into account someone who rants on and on about the retail center being ugly and smelly, for example. They want hard data and facts, without irate residents.
- Keep your speaking time short and sweet. You don't have to keep it to 60 seconds or less by any means, but as I said above, they will be more likely to take into account someone's information presented in a respectful, timely manner backed by factual evidence.
- You can submit "evidence." If you wish to submit (and I suggest you do) your facts and photos, I would bring at least 5 or 6 copies. They do not need to be in color or in a binder cover or anything fancy.
If you want to send a letter to be submitted in the official case file, which will be read by the planning commission and Metro Council upon the final decision, do the following:
Email letter to: Julia Willliams, Case Manager at julia.williams@louisvilleky.gov
Subject: "Add to Official Case File for 6501 & 6503 Billtown Road."
Subject: "Add to Official Case File for 6501 & 6503 Billtown Road."
If you haven't already, please continue to sign and share the petition on change.org. This helps spread the word about the retail center. Each time the petition is signed, Julia Williams received a notice, and the petition and the number of signatures (at the last hearing was nearly 150, now we are at 151) is entered as evidence. If you are opposed and want restrictions, signing and sharing the petition and getting more signatures will increase our strength. It can only look better if we go in this time with even more numbers on the signature page! Go to change.org and search "Billtown."
